Nutrition Education Advisor, Bradford Co.

Penn State Extension is seeking a Nutrition Education Adviser for Bradford County.

The position recruits and teaches low income program participants in their assigned service area research based knowledge and skills, in groups and individually, to use their limited resources to obtain a diet and lifestyles for themselves and their families following the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans by using approved state curricula. Teaches research-based education on the skills of healthful food selection, meal planning, food preparation, shopping, storage, food safety and physical activity to program-appropriate audiences. Recruits participants in base county and surrounding counties as assigned, which include: low income youth, pregnant women, families with young children and/or other members of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits eligible population. The position is responsible for collecting evaluation data from participants to demonstrate the program impact to the federal funding agencies. Responsible to the supervising educator for training, planning, program delivery, communication, evaluation, and reporting of program activities.

Education and Experience:

This job will be filled as a level 1 or 2, depending upon the successful candidate’s competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a High School Diploma or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1 and an Associate’s degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2.

This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to the clearances.
